Cortices: Tapping your way to better health!!
Cortices is the most commonly used technique in the BodyTalk System. It is important in establishing the general health and function of the brain. Cortices involves a sequence of hand positions that cover the four main brain cortices--occipital, parietal, pre-frontal and temporal--while tapping alternately on the head and sternum. Bringing awareness to each area of the brain while tapping allows improved communication between right and left hemispheres of the brain, facilitating optimal intellectual as well as intuitive processing.
Most people's brains are not working optimally due to stress. We live much of our lives in a "fight or flight mode" due to an over-reaction in the amygdala. The brain is equipped to handle short bursts of stress (about 15 minutes at a time) but prolonged stress can cause ongoing health problems as the brain shuts down and moves into a "coping mode". Prolonged stress can create symptoms including headache, allergies, attention deficit disorder, irritable bowel syndrome, arthritis and heart disease, to name just a few.
Daily practice of Cortices will help re-establish balance of the right and left hemispheres of the brain. Balancing the two halves of the brain enable better communication to occur at all levels of the body, which leads to improved health.
